There's a lot to look forward to in 2023.

Large Language Models (LLMs) are finally commercially viable... Now can we get a chatbot that actually f*cking works?

Here’s what we’ve got for you today:

  • Our 2023 Predictions

  • From Gimmick to Enterprise

  • Forget GPT-3, Bring on GPT-4

OUR 2023 PREDICTIONS

Last year was a year to remember. (but investors would rather forget it)

At the beginning of 2022, crypto fans were talking up the inevitable replacement of the US Dollar, inflation was "transitory", and Adidas wasn't concerned about Kanye's "mild bipolar quirks".

All that to say... take everything we say with a grain of salt and satire. 2023 is gonna be a wild ride.

  1. You'll talk with an AI without even know it. Comments, chatbots, phone calls, that one girl who matched then ghosted you on Tinder, etc, etc.

  2. AI will help businesses cut big costs. Recessions aren't pretty. Automation may not fully replace workers in 2023, but AI reduces labor costs and increases productivity. Especially for jobs with manual computer work.

  3. Prepare for some new household startup names. Fast-growth AI startups are coming (even during the recession). AirBnB, Slack, Whats App, Square, Uber and others were all founded in 2009. Some early stage startups we have our eye on for 2023: HumaneDescript, and Splice.

  4. GPT-4 will fuel major B2B startup innovation. Businesses will be open to trying out any new product or service that saves them money in 2023... opportunity for your new startup?

  5. Larger companies join the AI party. Current monopolies will contend with an AI future. If they don't move fast enough, they risk losing market share to a nimble AI startup (looking at you Google). Other, medium-sized companies will add complimentary AI product features like Notion AI

FROM GIMMICK TO ENTERPRISE

Pokemon Go and Snapchat filters introduced augmented reality to millions of consumers before it hit enterprise. The release of GPT-3 was no different, with initial products like creating profile pictures, interior designs, and essays. However, the future titans need to go deeper than the surface level to create immense value for consumers and businesses.

Since ChatGPT launched in late 2022, people and businesses have been exposed to the power it can harness. And billion-dollar ideas are now being formed...

There hasn't been a major “this is insane” moment since Steve Jobs announced the iPhone in 2007. AI will be the next wave.

Where were you in 2007 when the iPhone first came out?

Where are you now when AI is making its mark?

FORGET GPT-3... BRING ON GPT-4!

With the new year comes a new OpenAI version: GPT-4.

GPT-3 was revolutionary enough, causing excitement for some and dismay for others. GPT-3 has 175 billion parameters, and GPT-4 is estimated to have between 1 trillion and 100 trillion parameters. Think of a parameter as the intelligence level of the model because it trains itself on more data points.

So what does this mean? Predictions say that GPT-4 will be tailored towards enterprise use because it will be signficantly more accurate and faster than GPT-3, but could cost more.

It's all speculation until GPT-4 launches sometime in 2023. Nonetheless, GPT-4 will undoubtedly unlock new heights that GPT-3 can't reach.
